Caving - Fairy Quarry
Caving - Fairy Quarry
Group: Tim, Me, Matt and Gaynam.
We were all up by 08:30 after staying over at the Caving Club to have some breakfast and plan where we were going to go for the day. We decided on Fairy Quarry to dip into the different remaining sections of Balch's Cave - we decided on Erratic Parrage, Pool Passage 1, Pool Passage 2, Aven Series, Coral Grotto (Tim and Gaynam), Hillwithy (Me and Matt) and Fairy Cave. Good days worth of dipping in and out of different caves and lots of photos taken.

Caving - Swildon's Hole
Caving - Swildon's Hole
Group: Tim, Me, Steve and Gaynam.
Arrived at the Wessex Club just gone 10:30. Steve and Gaynam had already arrived. There were a few others also at the club. We decided to go for a round trip in Swidon's. We got into the cave by 11.30. The steam outside the cave looked rather full, Gaynam had a look and removed a rock that had been washed into the drainage pipe. Once removed the stream drained to a more sensible level!! We took the short dry route through the upper series and then through Barnes Loop, double pots and up into Tratmans Temple. Leaving Swildon's One behind we entered the St Paul's Series, Paradise Regained and the Trouble Series. We got to the first of the Troubles and the 3 boys began bailing! Tim got impatient at said there was enough room to get through but that it would be unpleasant!! I followed Tim through and Steve came next at upon emerging promptly announced that he had lost his helmet on the way through! (There is not much air space through the duck so it is best done without a helmet on so you can make the most of the limited airspace!!). Gaynam had just come though so I went back to look for Steve's helmet. he wasn't quite sure where exactly he had let go of it so it meant I went back through the whole duck. I found it the other side of the duck so he hadn't taken it through any of it!!! 3 ducks and a Not Birthday Squeeze later we made it to the landing. By now I was feeling quite tired and began to count off the obstacles leading to the entrance. Ahead was Sump One, Double Pots, Watery Rift, 20 foot Pot, 40 foot Pot, Jacobs Ladder then the short dry to the entrance!!! We hadn't even got to the Double Pots before Steve had another special moment - Somehow he lost his wellies! Gaynam also had no light as it had become water logged!! Steadily and counting down the obstacles we made it to the entrance and got out of the cave around 16:30. A good trip :o) Back to the caving club for dinner and a well earned rest!!

Caving - G.B. Cavern
Caving - G.B. Cavern
Group: Tim, Me, Paul, Matt and Steve.
Arrived at the Wessex Club just gone 10:00 to sort out access permits. GB is one of my favourite caves, it was Paul's first time there. We had a great trip and went all the way to the end of Bat passage. Tim took Steve up into Great chamber - Matt tried to fit and realised that his honeymoon had expanded his waist line!!! Paul got cold feet and said he would try another time!!

Sherborne Summer School Of Music 2012 - Day 7 04/08/2012
Sherborne Summer School of Music
Day 7 - Saturday 04/08/2012
My alarm did not go off early today!!!
Today we had a sing through some different pieces in the morning and then had our own cabaret session. It is a good opportunity for people in the group to perform to a friendly and supportive audience. We have all been practising through the week. I played Emma Johnson's Scarborough Fair on the clarinet and I encouraged mum to play a saxophone piece to everyone. She did really well and made me feel really proud.
