Walking - Durlston

Durlston

During the only dry spell of the day Tim and I went for a walk at Durlston Head.  We walked down to the castle and had a brief look at the exhibitions and then made our way to the Globe and to where the Tilly Whim Cave entrance is and then back up to the car.

Bedroom Decorating - Day 7

Finally we have got all the paint on the walls and started to get things straight in the bedroom!  We collected the curtains today from Tim's Gran who had adjusted them for us.  This evening Tim put the new curtain track up while I fitted the bedside light switches.

By the end of today we have done all the coats of the light orange that are needed.  We only have one coat of the dark orange left to do.  Most of the gloss has been done. One skirting board needs doing and a final smoothing and top coat for the bedside tops and the window sill.  Hopefully we can start getting furniture back in at the end of tomorrow and get the flat back to normal again!!

Today we started to get the orange pain on the walls.  We did a first coat all over and the darker orange for behind the bed.  Tim did a bit more woodwork to make the bottom of the cupboards look better!  Finally it is looking like we are getting somewhere!!  We also got a phone call today to organise when the carpets are going to be fitted.  They are coming on December 12th - not long to wait!!

Today we got the last little bit of sanding done and then started priming and then painting.  While we were waiting for various sections to dry we went to Carpets Direct Dorset!  We got a new carpet for the bedroom and also the hall.  By the end of the day we had done all the priming and the white and the ceiling and coving had also had one coat done.  Tomorrow we get to put the orange paint out!

Today we had much sanding down ahead of us!!  I removed the fittings off the cupboard doors and then got to play with the electric sander!!  The big hole in the wall has received more attention and is now at a point where we need it to finish drying and then smooth it off.

The other bedside top got completed and the new switch wiring.  We sanded down the whole of the cupboard units, skirting boards, bedroom door, 8 x cupboard doors! Broke the hoover trying to clear up and searched gum tree for a new one!!

The sanded doors got a first undercoat and the sanded areas got a wipe down.

We found a hoover on Gumtree and went and bought it!! Then hoovered the whole room top to bottom.

The photos don't really show the progress we have made very well.  Tomorrow will start with a little sanding and then we need to wash the room ready for primer and paint!!

Bedroom Decorating - Day 2

Bright and early this morning we were at B&Q when it opened.  We needed a few supplies - Polyfilla for big holes and Polyfilla fine surface, paint, glue, fixings, paint brush...

Today we patched up the big hole in the wall - I used polyfilla for the first time and now I want to fill every little hole I find!!

Many more holes were filled and Tim investigated the light switches.  Very quickly I had finished our supply of filla so had to go and get some more!!

I removed all the cupboard doors and labelled them so we know (hopefully) where to put them back!

Tim made some new tops for the bedside cupboards and re wired the lights so the switch was in a reachable place!

Much hoovering occurred and we are now at point where we need to let the filla dry.

Today we cleared the room, shifting a lot of it to mums!! 

This pile got bigger!!

We started by getting all the paper off the walls and investigating some dodgy looking areas of cracked plaster!!  Removing the light fittings and cupboard tops.

Tim didn't think we would get as far as we have today so that is a good start!
